She Goes to Another School (Asbury Park Distilling)

Ok so I know what you're thinking, "this isn’t a beer review" but I happened to accidentally walk in here while looking for another place and thought it was good enough to talk about. Plus it's my site I can do what I want. Asbury Park Distilling Co. is a cool hipster bar to get spirits and chill out. As I learned from the mini-tour that they give first-time customers, it happens to be Asbury Park's first and only distillery since prohibition. Everything that is sold here is made fresh on sight. All alcohol is made right in the distillery which can be seen through the window behind the bar. Including alcohol, all ingredients that go into the drinks are either bought fresh or made right there. It’s a really cool small location in which you can get some pretty high-quality drinks. As if that wasn't enough of a reason to check it out they also played Goosebumps on TV, which warrants a visit in itself.

Review

  • She Goes to Another School:

Pros: Very Different, Delisous taste

Cons: None

Price: $14.00

She Goes to Another School is one of their seasonal drinks and consists of house-made Gin, earl grey, grapefruit, orgeat, lemon, and egg white. When you first read the description there is one ingredient that stands out, the egg white. Not going to lie hearing that made me a little nervous to try it but I decided to give it a shot, and I’m glad I did. This was a very delicious drink, and you could really tell how fresh everything was just from the taste. The drink was very smooth and the most predominant flavor was the earl grey. The citrus hints from the lemon and grapefruit give the drink a very slight sour bite to it that helps balance out flavors. As for the egg white, it added texture to the drink. It added a slight thickness and frothiness to the drink, which was pleasantly surprising. Overall this was a very good drink and I would defiantly recommend it to anyone taking a visit.
