Is Pizza Addictive?

According to a CNN article pizza is one of the most addictive foods out there. Pizza was ranked as the food most associated with indicators of addiction, but what makes it so irresistible to most people? Well, that answer can be broken down into three main parts, ingredients, science, and experience. First off pizza is created with the perfect combo of ingredients. The combo of crust, cheese, and sauce is very appealing. Cheese by itself is addictive to most, so when you add bread and sauce to the mix it creates a killer combo. The science behind the addictiveness can stem from both the flavor and texture of pizza. The flavor of the yeasty bread, and aged cheese along with the sour, tangy ingredients of the sauce affect a person’s senses. Not only that but the texture of the pizza, the crispy chewiness of the crust and cheese in combination with the moistness of the sauce creates a combination of texture like nothing else. The “Pizza Experience” is also a big factor when looking at why people are drawn to this food. When people think of pizza, most often than not, people think of fun times and gatherings. When people get pizza a lot of the time it's with other people in times of joy, this subconscious feeling can also lead people to crave this delicious meal.

"It's a fun food;\, it's portable, and you don't have to sit down and be formal. Pizza is a party!" -  DeJournett 2018

I strongly agree with what this article has to say. Pizza, as you can guess, is my favorite food and I do consider it as a slight addiction. Pizza is the only food that I really feel the need to eat at least once a week. The reasons they explained in the article really coincide with my own feeling about pizza. In my personal opinion, it easy to see why pizza was rated number one in most addictive foods.
